Trixie picture Photo (March 2010)

Trixie's family sent me this one and I just had to share it here. Every time I get a newer picture of Trixie, she just keeps getting better and better looking.
Her coloring and how the lines come out as her fur gets longer and more pronounced in the layering is really beautiful!

PRETTY TRIXIE!!!

21 days...4 POUNDS!

As of today, the puppies have teeth.
Michelle weighed the smaller pups quickly to find that the small ones have cracked the 4 pound mark.

Ashley is putting out milk that is the consistency of heavy cream instead of skim milk,
ssssshh!!!

Day 2 and looking great!

The merle, named "Dawson" (third from the left) was pulled from Ashley at the vet's office and is named for our vet. He was born more than 5 hours after the other three and his sack had been ruptured. He appears to have suffered no ill effects though, he certainly will squabble for his nipple!

We have 4 new puppies!

The first three went easy, but the last one weighed a POUND and required a very scary trip to the vet.

But Ashley and her new puppies are all doing well and resting now.

She had contractions for 18 hours before things really began.

Michelle and I are very tired, so this will be a small post...but here is a picture for you all to see.

Proud Mama dog right here!

Contractions have begun!!

We went into the Vet this morning because Ashley was "leaking" a bit more than I liked to see. The great people there took out the ultrasound and I got to see the little heartbeats. What an AWESOME thing to behold!

There are only four puppies inside.

Her temp is 2 degrees down from 5 days ago and she is drooling, refusing to eat and will not allow me out of "eye contact range."

She has been napping for the last couple of hours in between contractions...which are not really predictable yet...but getting more intense for sure.

It is the Vets opinion that she will deliver by tonight.

The pups are going to share my birthday if they hold out till 12AM tonight!! We shall see.

The camera has fresh batts and is right by the birthing box. We will be sure to take pics for you all to see.

Bye for now....

NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH

Elvis has left the building!

;)

Ashley and The King have been on a hot date and unless Michelle and I counted very wrong, we hit it el perfecto!!

(Ashley has morning sickness a couple of weeks post-mating)

Pitter Patter Puppy Paws early spring.

Updates as they come.

Good energy for another litter of all healthy puppies...

(We do not need 9 this time, but any number of healthy pups would be a blessing!)

Keep your fingers crossed.

What are you feeding your pooch?

I would like to make a suggestion to you all.

Dozer, Ashley and the whole crew LOVE this stuff and every thing I read, tells me it is every bit as good as any other bagged food out there or better.

If you feed the junk from the super market, do your pup a favor and try this. You will find it is around the same $$$ as the junk food, but the poop is a LOT less...does not smell HALF as nasty...and the coat and eyes of your fur friend will show it in a few weeks.

CLICK HERE FOR THE FOOD WE ARE USING NOW.

I strongly encourage you to read this one page and compare to what you are feeding. What are the first 4 ingredients on your dog food? Be careful about "crude protein" unless you know what it is. Grain is a no no. Dogs do not eat it in the wild.
They will eat Bison, venison, chicken, and lamb...which are the first four in this food. Round it out with sweet potatoes and some tomatoes and you have a pretty well rounded chow.

We are paying $41.00 for 30 pounds currently. Please do not ask how much 5 very healthy and active dogs eat in a month. (ouch)

If you are feeding dog chow, shame shame.

The only negative about this food...is the gas it gave Gyro for a week or so. It stopped.

If you do insist on feeding your pup second rate food, PLEASE crack a raw egg into it at least once a day. The skin and fur will thank you.

I couldn't resist

I know I'm a dork, but it was too cute not to post....
Pippin's favorite snuggle spot is currently in my bed, head resting on the pillow, like a little human! (How could I not tuck her in?) Then at night, I sleep all curled up, and she curls herself up in the crook of my legs.
Another funny Pippin tidbit: TWICE in recent weeks I have been in the middle of preparing dinner, with my plate almost made up and ready to go, when the meat went mysteriously missing from the plate. Only one of my dogs is tall enough to reach up on the counters...

Brother and Sister

Michelle and Dozer took a trip to visit Lacy and Biscuit up in the mountains of Vermont.
They had a great time.
Matching scarfs... we are so handsome/cute!!!

Too much playing in the yard, makes for sleepy Bordershelties!

Mama's, we are very hungry now...please feed us!

"I had a GREAT time in Vermont with my sister and Auntie Lacy!"

(Dozer, 14 months...and 60 pounds! Big head, big paws, big appetite and big heart!
We would not trade him for the world...)

When Ashley sheds, she gets "butt wings."

Welcome to the world of strange shedding pattern.

The long fur on the back of Ashley has been fondly named, "butt wings."

Ivy looks like she has them, but I have not seen any of the other pups with them like Momma.

Here are Ashely's butt wings...

Does your pup have "butt wings" or any other unique shedding pattern?

Look who we have for the week!!!!

She did not know about being up on the bed at first...I guess she is not allowed on it at home, but here at casa-de-bordersheltie, we are always ready to welcome new guests up with us on the bed.

Yup, it is our girl, on loan from her family...its Shelly!!
She has been having a WONDERFUL week hanging out with her brother, mother and the rest of her birth family.

We have learned the following about her.

1. She LOVES popcorn like the others.
2. She "yelp barks" JUST LIKE Cobi.
3. Her and Dozer have identical energy patterns and take turns chewing on Otto.
4. She likes *eckkk* chicken poop. (then again, what Bordersheltie does NOT like it?) *cough cough*
5. It will be hard to say goodbye and give her back, she has been a pleasure!

Pippin Grows up...

Michelle and I took a ride today.
We have Cobi with us and compared to Dozer, he is quite the communicator.
Now, before you all go thinking that Michelle and I are nuts, please understand these dogs are SMART!

Cobi wanted to know which dogs were in range. Since the puppies spread over half the country, he had not been able to see anyone but Bandit. Now, having been with Dozer, he asked to see a SISTER.

SOOOOO, off we drive to Charlottesville, VA to the home of Pippin.

See pippin??
And another one of all of them...

So we had Ashley, Dozer, Cobi and we were being hosted by Basia and Pippin in their backyard.

Here are clips of the festivities...

Okay, another one...

And one more...

Thanks to the Doctors Roland for hosting us in the wonderful fenced yard.
Also, for their great and loving adoption of Pippin! She is among the happiest, best cared for dogs on the planet.
Michelle and I both left with the feeling that we could not have found a better place for one of Ashleys puppies.

Thanks to you both and many happy years together!

(But do not be shy on further updates please...;>)

I have to put this here for you all.

Lacy posted this elsewhere, but most of you would not see it unless it was posted here, so... 9 Pups, 9 winners.

Must be the parentage.

Remember when??

This was less than 9 months ago...when I got a closeup of Pippin. She looks so scared, but she really wasn't.

Who's your daddy?? Huh?? HERE is your Daddy!

There are just a few of you who have seen this dog before now...and then, only a quick glance on a laptop screen.

Well, now you get to see this particular dog as much as you want right here on the blog.

I bet you have guessed it by now...

This great looking lad is half the reason your puppies are SO wonderful and till now, has basked in zero glory.
Meet 'The King'...your puppies Daddy.

You can now tell everyone that your pups have a confirmed champion for a father! Yup, he now has 5 el primo major wins under his belt.
(Ain't he just a stud??)

Are you all sitting down?

Michelle and I sat down and had a chat with Ashley.
Then we went and had a chat with The King.

After much thought and discussion, it has been pretty much decided that...when next Ashley is ready, she and 'The King' will again be going out to dinner and a movie.

This means another litter of Cobi, Bandit, Shelley, Biscuit, Pippin, Ivy, Candy, Trixie, Dozer pups! There is nothing telling us for sure we will get 9, but however many we do get are going to be as smart and wonderful as yours!
So, the people who asked you, "how can I get a puppy like yours?" Will now be able to contact me!

There are already two on the waiting list, so please tell them to call or email!

A note from Cobi's Mom, who is watching Bandit for the week...

They had a great time playing and running and napping together. Bandit is defiantly different from Cobi. Bandit likes to be with you when he’s in the house. He likes to lay at your feet and he loves a good rub down. He isn’t a huge fan of the Frisbee but he liked to try to take it away from Cobi. He’s also much faster then Cobi. They would play chase and it was always Cobi chasing Bandit and Cobi would do his little cry yelp because he could never catch Bandit. We had a great time watching him and we are glad that it worked out so well so that we both have a doggie sitter now if we need one.

Bandit also looks more like a Sheltie to me than Cobi. He’s very fluffy and has a huge tail.

Update on Trixie

Hi, Trixie has grown quite a bit since last I posted. Her favorite pastime is sitting in my lap, which can be an impromptu affair. She comes running back and forth through the living room and suddenly she lands at full speed right in my lap. Break time! LOL

Time to do the dishes. They always come out cleaner with a little prewashing.

Yes that tail is real and no you can't have it. I don't care how good it will look on your antennae.

Every boy needs a dog and every dog needs a boy. This is Trixies boy Rickie. If you can't find Ricky just call Trixie and Rickie will be right behind her. Baby sitting problem solved.

Ivy on South Padre Island

This was Ivy's first trip to South padre Island, TX. We had been there about a week when this video was taken. She loved to chase the birds and the waves. She is a beach dog.
